Capture and Ammo Dosage Comparisons for Grasshopper Control in Conservation Reserve Program Land, 1990
1992
Arthropod Management Tests
A section of 3-yr-old CRP containing approximately 60 grasshoppers per m2 was selected for this trial. The grass-alfalfa provided relatively heavy cover with average plant height about 0.7 m. The age structure of the grasshopper population was 6% 1st instar, 11% 2nd, 24% 3rd, 27% 4th, 20% 5th, and 12% adults. Seventy-eight percent of the grasshoppers were TSG, 19% were MIG, and 3% were RLG. Plots were 17.5 m wide × 0.4 km in length, replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design.
