Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is a recent magnetic resonance (MR) technique that provides comprehensive information about water diffusivity. Since diffusivity correlates with tissue structure at the microscopic level DTI reveals fibrous structures such as white matter (WM) pathways in the field of neurosurgery.
