STUDY OF PRELIMINARY PHYTOCHEMICAL AND ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF ATROCARPUS HETEROPHYLLUS

2023 International Research Journal of Modernization in Engineering Technology and Science
Presence of phytochemicals, antimicrobial activity of Artocarpus heterophyllus was carried out in this study. Seed of this plant was subjected to warm extraction with the solvents namely ethanol. Seed extract showed the presence of alkaloid, carbohydrates, glycosides, tannins, saponins in ethanol solvent. Further, antimicrobial activity was assessed through disc diffusion method with six pathological bacteria and two bacterial strains in the concentration of plant extract. The objective of the

Dried powdered seeds were used to produce ethanolic residue extracts. The antibacterial test was performed against Escherichia coli, through minimal inhibition concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC). The agar diffusion technique, well and disc-variants were used to measure the antimicrobial effect of the plant extract combination with antimicrobial of clinical usage. We highlight the bactericidal effect of jackfruit seeds on E. coli the effect of the extracts on antimicrobial activity The interaction between antimicrobial of clinical usage and jackfruit seed extracts demonstrated changes in susceptibility profile of antimicrobials tending to an antagonist effect. As the jackfruit seeds may interfere on antimicrobials action, special attention should be given to its usage as traditional medicine in the treatment of food borne diseases.
