Therefore in the article are presented main housing development models which were realized in Katowice from late 20's till end of 30's. Wprowadzenie Przemiany dwudziestolecia międzywojennego w istotny sposób wpłynęły na współczesną strukturę przestrzenną Katowic. Właśnie w okresie międzywojnia Katowice, obok Gdyni, były miastem, w którym nastąpił rozwój na niespotykaną gdzie indziej skalę. Wprowadzane rozwiązania w znakomitej części nie odbiegały od najnowszych osiągnięć europejskiej architektury i urbanistyki. Wynikało to z ambicji podkreślenia odrębności i znaczenia odrodzonego państwa, a miało na celu wyraźne odcięcie od rozwiązań historyzujących i klasycyzujących, łączonych z wcześniejszymi tradycjami pruskimi [Szczypka-Gwiazda 2004: 326].
