Our current research concentrates on offloading 3G networks through WLAN-switching from one mobile network to another. The switch occurs if the new network is better than the old by some fitness criteria. As a part of ongoing research, simulation of handover in pure 3G and WLAN networks is demonstrated, using a custom version of industry-standard network simulator ns-2. Results of basic handover simulation in both WLAN and 3G networks are promising: the delay incurred is reasonable. Network
