Areas subject to a strict form of environmental protection, especially national parks, are nowadays – in view of their outstanding landscape value – the places which strongly attract tourist, and thus stimulate the development of the tourist industry. The intensification of visits to the natural valuable areas is the reason for the expansion of infrastructure facilities providing services to the tourist traffic generated by them. more » ... e so that the level of area saturation with tourist infrastructure, as well as its arrangement, will not interfere with the elements of the natural environment and the landscape. Thus, the plans of developing tourist facilities in national parks ought to be created in a well-considered way, with proper care being taken to avoid negative impact on the environment. However, considering the growing interest in tourism in the natural valuable areas it is necessary to form (limit, direct) the tourist traffic in a rational way, so that conflicts between the man and the nature can be avoided or limited. The aim of the study is to assess the level of tourist infrastructure development in the area of the "Bory Tucholskie" National Park, to some extent also in its buffer zone. Furthermore, the subjects of analysis are the changes in the intensity and the seasonal fluctuations of tourist traffic.
