Ankle fractures are among the most common injuries treated by orthopaedic surgeons. Approximately 2% of the general population will sustain an ankle fracture during their life. ... aving various types of fractures. Motor vehicle accident (MVA) was the most common cause of ankle fractures (67.34% of all study subjects. Among all fractures 231 (8.6%) were ankle fractures. The medial malleoli (40.2%) was the most commonly injured bone of the ankle and the least common was the posterior malleoli (2.2%). Study of ankle fracture involves a careful examination, appropriate imaging, understanding of the fracture pattern, and technically favorable management.
