In their works, Rabelais and Franz with burning irony denounce the vices of the time that hinder the development of mankind and the prosperity of civilization, express their concerns and ideas about happiness, justice and the future of mankind. And it should be noted that their approaches differ sharply from each other. In the novel "Gargantua and Pantagruel" F. Rabelais expresses his faith in the bright future of mankind, in its prosperity, which can be achieved through light and true science. And in the novel by A. Franz "Penguin Island" there is not a single bright spot, as the writer is deeply skeptical about the progress of mankind, and in his novel represents a wild society worthy of contempt and hatred.
