Numerical simulation of an ethanol turbulent spray flame with RANS and diffusion combustion model

A detailed numerical simulation of ethanol turbulent spray combustion was carried out on a rounded jet flame in a three-dimensional configuration. The focus was on the proposal of a robust mathematical model with relatively low complexity submodels that could well reproduce the main characteristics of the coupling between both phases, like the turbulence modulation, turbulent droplets dissipation and evaporative cooling effect. The results were analyzed and compared to experimental data
