The article considers the problem of practical development of the information system of support of tests of armaments and military equipment. Known models of the software development process that can be used in the development of information system for testing support are presented and characterized. The basic moments and features of realization of the information system of support of tests are defined and analyzed. A list of criteria that are crucial in choosing a model of the software development process is formed. To assess the acceptability of the model, a SWOT analysis is used with a score of the strengths and weaknesses of the model, opportunities and risks of implementing a test support information system. Potential opportunities and risks in the implementation of the information system are determined by the existing staff of the testing institution, taking into account their specialty and experience in the implementation of information systems. The model of information system development is chosen according to the maximum value of aggregate numerical estimates of SWOT analysis. It is expected that the chosen spiral model will minimize the risks of implementing an information system to support the testing of weapons and military equipment, and the development of the software product will involve the creation of prototypes with increasing functionality. As the information system develops, the transition to an incremental model of software product development is not excluded.
