Crystal structure of 4-aza-2-(hydroxyimino)-3-methyl-5-(2-pyridyl)pent- 3-ene, C10H13N3O

C]OHI 3 N 3 0, monoclinic, P\2\lc\ (No. 14), a = 7.1477(9) Ä, b = 18.768(2) Ä, c = 7.651(1) Ä, β = 91.36(1)°, V= 1026.1 A 3 , Z = 4, R gt (F) = 0.045, wRM(F 2 ) = 0.157, 7=291 K. Source of material 5 g (49.5 mmol) of biacethyl monoxime were dissolved in 20 mL of diisopropylic ether with 4.7 mL (5 g, 46.2 mmol) of 2-(2-aminomethyl)pyridine. The mixture was refluxed by one hour and cooled, then filtered and the resulting product washed with ethyl alcohol. Colourless needle crystals were obtained
more » ... tals were obtained after recrystallization from ethanol at 277 K. Crystals were separated by filtration, washed with ehtyl ether and dried under vacuum (mp 416 K).
