Howl and the Postmodern Subjectivity

History is, in a sense, a story about us viewing ourselves. Why does the "Subject" matter? Because the Subject is our history -a story, a narrative about ourselves. For many centuries we have understood to use this concept to describe a relationship between us and the world, to ponder epistemological, metaphysical or ethical questions. But now, in postmodern times, we came to see the "Subject" as it is: a narrative, a structure of culture and language created by us to be used. Through the
