RESUMEN Como un aporte al conocimiento florístico de las zonas áridas del país, se presenta un listado de las especies de angiospermas que forman parte de arbustales xerófilos ubicados en los alrededores del complejo lagunar Bocaripo-Chacopata en la Península de Araya, estado Sucre. Los géneros más diversos son: Senna (4 spp.), Capparis, Cyperus, Opuntia, Sida y Tillandsia (3 spp. c/u). El biotipo mejor representado corresponde a la vegetación herbácea, seguido de los árboles, arbustos, trepadoras, epífitas y hemiparásitas. El listado incluye dos especies endémicas de Venezuela y 8 registradas en las listas del Libro Rojo de la Flora Venezolana. ABSTRACT As a contribution to the floristic knowledge of xeric zones of the country, a list of angiospermae species is presented that are found forming part of a xerophytic shrubland, located around the Bocaripo-Chacopata lagoon complex, in Araya Peninsula, Sucre state. A total of 56 families was identified which comprised 142 genus, 180 species and 3 intraspecific taxa. The most dominant families regarding to the species number were: Fabaceae (24 spp.), Poaceae (15 spp.), Cactaceae (10 spp.), Asteraceae, Euphorbiaceae (9 spp. c/u), Malvaceae (8 spp.), Convolvulaceae (7 spp.), Cyperaceae, Amaranthaceae (6 spp. c/u), Portulacaceae and Bromeliaceae (5 spp. c/u). Among the most important genera, were: Senna (4 spp.), Capparis, Cyperus, Opuntia, Sida and Tillandsia (3 spp. c/u). The more common biotype was herbaceous vegetation, followed by shrubs, trees, climber, epiphytes and hemiparasites. The list includes two endemic species and 8 other included in the Red Book of the Flora of Venezuela.
