Consumers worry that intelligent monitoring devices, which transmit power-usage information to the utility as frequently as every 15 minutes, would make them vulnerable to thieves, annoying marketers, and police investigations. In this paper, we analyze the possibility of Bitcoin serving as the user friendly and effective privacy aware trading currency to facilitate energy exchange for smart grid. A taxonomy to determine the parameters of the price functions backed up by microeconomic theories is also discussed in this report for trading energy. Another scope of this project is to identify the incentive for users at Government level with mere regulations under Canadian perspective.
