The key result of the article is the systematization of the main directions of studies performed by Russian researchers in the field of competitiveness from 2000 to 2020. The article shows that the dynamics of publications on this topic corresponds to the general trends of growth in the number of materials with a gradual decrease in the share of high-quality articles as well as the distribution of publications on the topic of competitiveness by journals and affiliations of authors. The evolution of trends in the choice of tools for improving competitiveness in Russian science is considered.
