Leadership Framework: A Preliminary Qualitative Research Using the Critical Incident Method

A myriad of definitions and conceptual models has been developed to understand the concept of leadership. To further contribute in broadening the knowledge, the authors proposed a leadership framework consisting of the four Ps, namely person, participant, performance, and perspective. A content analysis of critical incidents that were retrospectively self-reported by 58 MBA and Masters of Management students in an Asian business school was discussed. There is preliminary support for the proposed model and the authors recommended a follow-up research using deeper interviews with leaders to capture the essence of the clusters representing the dimensions in the proposed leadership framework.
