The article analyzes the discursive differences in the wording: sources on the history of the peasantry / sources of the history of the peasantry. A hypothesis is put forward about the paradigmatic basis of these differences, about the opposition between the classical and neoclassical models of science. The hypothesis is tested on the material of classical European and Russian studies on the history of the peasantry.
