This paper presents an overview of Multiple Personality Disorder, its development, epidemiology and etiology. It also presents a study of a case. The paper also stresses the criteria for diagnosis so professionals can identify cases at an early stage. Different treatment approaches are discussed. More than six thousand cases of MPD have been diagnosed in North America 1 and, since 1986, over 700 scientific articles, chapters, books, etc. have been published.
