The present revision paper presents general information on the domestic dove (Columbia livia domestica), makes emphasis in zoonotics aspects, highlighting that it is a host of multiple ectoparasites and endoparisite species, and that it is related with illnesses such as: salmonellosis, psittacosis, cryptococcosis, aspergillosis, listeriosis, staphylococcosis among others.
