C~4H6FsAs 2, M r = 476.02, triclinic, space group P i, a = 8.121 (5), b = 8.178 (5), c = 6.909 (4) A,a = 97.23 (4),fl= 118.16 (4), y= 107.48 (4) ° , V= 365-8 ,/k 3, Z = 1, D c = 2.161, D O = 2.14 g cm-3, g(Mo Ktt) = 49.1 cm -1. A molecule with a crystallographic centre of symmetry gave a final R of 0.073 for 835 counter reflexions. The molecule is planar except for the methyl groups, which are trans; this is in contrast to the non-fluorinated analogue [Kennard, Mann, Watson, Fawcett & Kerr,
