The Use of the Imperative I believe that this barber means to murder me. I cannot be entirely certain, of course. Perhaps I am suffering from paranoia -an elaborate fantasy I have spun from plain cloth. But he and the small man certainly have some plan in the making, and I believe it to be more sinister than merely a haircut and shave.
