A father and his son were admitted to Hiroshima University hospital and were diagnosed as having ulcerative colitis. The father (69-year-old) had moderate left-sided colitis which was improved by medication. His son (39-year-old) had severe total colitis and total colectomy was performed. Concerning HLA haplotype, they have A24, B52, DR2, DQ6 (1) which has been revealed to be associated with ulcerative colitis in Japan.
