This article is dedicated to the memory of the late Dr. Akira Tonomura, with whom I worked at Hitachi Advanced Research Laboratory (HARL) from 1985 to 1990. I report my research experience at HARL and at the University of Tokyo after 1990 together with intriguing experimental photographs from my favorite collection taken by myself and my colleagues.
