The Arab Republic of Egypt has a unique, rich and diverse heritage content as the cradle and origin of many civilizations. Other them being the crucible of the interaction of different cultures, leaving the local and global heritage content, and within this local heritage content we find the ancient Assiut Barrage which went out of active duty with the start of the new Assiut Barrages in August 2018. more » ... architectural heritage, through studying different international experiences of similar buildings listed as a global architectural heritage represented in the bridge of Mohamed Pasha Sokolovic in the Bosnian Serb Republic, the Padre Templek Canal in Mexico, and the Pontescelit Canal in England. The research aims to study and analyze these heritage models in order to identify the various procedures and methods that have been followed and applied for their development which can be applied to the ancient Assiut Barrages for the purpose of investing the local urban heritage. The research comes out with conclusions and recommendations applicable to the ancient Assiut Barrages in the context of investment and development for being a distinctive heritage.
