This study reviews the perceptions of Chiang Mai city's transport decision makers in relation to the development of the local transport system. The objective is to gain an insight into their views of the city's transport problems, sustainability, and possible mitigations to solve the problems. These findings point to an urgent need to introduce the policy makers to the tools now available to help them comprehend the complexity of the transport system, thus increasing the likelihood of successfully identifying and tackling the root causes of the city's transport problems.
