Robotics and automation education often involves some playful elements. It is especially very popular to incorporate competitions in teaching activities. A lot has already been said and written about the general benefits of robotics competitions with respect to education, which include among others the following advantages. First of all, competitions foster hands-on experiences with real systems. They also easily allow exposing the participants to the diverse areas and fields of robotics and

Educational competitions are also very good to train soft skills. They require among others goal-oriented planning and involve team work. Last but not least, they are just plain fun for the participants and are hence very good for motivation.
