STUDY HABITS OF SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN RELATION TO THEIR GENDER AND LOCALITY
This research is an examination of the study habits of senior secondary school students in relation to their gender and locality. The investigator studied to determine the gender-wise and locality wise overall difference in study habits of senior secondary school students. This study was conducted on a sample of 640 senior secondary school students, selected form different urban and rural schools of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh by using multistage sampling technique. The results indicate that there is no significant difference in overall study habits of male and female as well as urban and rural senior secondary school students. Results of present study also pointed out that there is significant difference in mean scores of comprehension, task orientation and drilling area of study habits of male and female senior secondary school students. Female senior secondary school students have significantly better study habits in comprehension, task orientation and drilling area habits than their male counterparts. Results of present study also pointed out that the students of urban schools showed poor study habits as compared to rural school students in comprehension and study sets areas. Students of rural senior secondary schools have poor study habits as compared to students of urban schools in drilling and language areas. Hence, the students of the schools should be given more personal attention by the teachers and parents as far as study habits are concerned.
