CORRESPONDENCE to be understood, and while we agree emphatically that much more work is urgently required on this important problem in order to map out more clearly and precisely the importance of sickle-cell anaemia in African children, nevertheless it has been our impression to date, with techniques at present available, that this condition is certainly far from common, at least among the Yoruba of Western Nigeria.-We are, etc.,
