The phytochemical analysis of Dactyloctenium aegyptium showed that the plant contained carbohydrates, proteins, amino acids, terpenoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, steroids , fixed oils and phenols. The pharmacological investigations revealed that Dactyloctenium aegyptium possessed antimicrobial, antioxidant, reproductive, cytooxic, antidiabetic and gastointestinal effects.
