On the basis of a detailed analysis of the internal and external environment of the business entities, the basic approaches to the formation of an effective, productive, rational, marketing strategy, the implementation of which will allow to achieve the desired result. The main focus of the study is on the theoretical foundations of competitiveness and the formation of competitive advantages. It is argued that an important area of competitive advantage formation is to develop an effective development strategy for the enterprise, which will be based on the unique positioning of the enterprise, orientation to unique types of activity. It is specified that the process of forming competitive advantages of an enterprise begins with the idea of its creation by determining the appropriate source under the influence of internal and external factors, between which there is a close relationship. The results of the operation of enterprises depend to a large extent on the choice of competitive strategy, comprehensive development of a system of strategic management of competitiveness, achievement and realization of their competitive advantages. Mastering a competitive strategy is a vital problem and a necessary part of the strategic development management system for enterprises and organizations at the current level of development. In the context of globalization, it is essential to increase competition, which is accompanied by the emergence of a large number of competing enterprises in both domestic and foreign markets, increasing market demands, which is forcing the company constantly to develop its strategic potential, to look for possible ways of its effective use, to create new competitive advantages.
