A new method for the cross-metathesis of terminal olefins is described. Treatment of terminal olefins with 1-2 equivalents of a symmetric disubstituted cis or trans olefin and 5 mol% C12(PCy3)2Ru=CHPh (1) in dichloromethane generates the desired cross-metathesis products in good yield.
