This paper studies the extent to which scholars of grammar and morphology devoted their attention to the ascription of reports, making use of the system developed in the science of Prophetic Hadith. It also presents evidence for early scholars' care to mention the ascription of the reports they cited along with the factors influencing whether or not they mentioned it according to the nature of the report. Attention is given to the manner in which grammarians dealt with the ascription of a report and the scientific value of ascriptions by following the quotations given as textual evidence in their books that serve to emphasize the value of the ascription and the ways in which it can be used when comparing scholars and in ascertaining whether certain books were indeed composed by the authors to whom they are attributed as well as in judging the veracity or otherwise of narratives, in addition to other advantages to be derived from the study of the ascriptions of grammatical and morphological reports.
