The KiwiSaver scheme for retirement savings was launched in New Zealand in 2007. This paper examines investor behaviour in the context of that scheme. It uses a unique purposebuilt database. The study finds that KiwiSaver members, like other investors, are chasing performance and seeking to avoid fees.
