Traffic prioritization is an effective, yet relatively simple, tool for providing differentiated services. This paper investigates the performance of different traffic types for IP internetworks with traffic prioritization under various traffic patterns via numerical analysis. The following seven traffic types were considered: Network Control, 'Voice', 'Video', Controlled Load, Excellent Effort, Best Effort and Background, as suggested in IEEE P802.1 D.
