Research indicates social workers are less homophobic now than ever before. Very little research, however, has assessed the practice of social workers. This exploratory study assessed the level of prejudice and gay affirmative practice of social workers. One-hundred forty social workers from five divisions within the Fresno County Department of Social Services completed the Attitudes Toward Lesbians and Gay Men scale, and the Gay Affirmative Practice scale.
