A green and operationally simple approach domino reaction has been developed for the synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyano- 4H-chromene derivatives from aromatic aldehydes, resorcinol and malononitrile in aqueous medium. This work represents the first example of catalyst free and organic solvents free multi-component reactions for the synthesis of pharmaceutically important chromene derivatives.
