In 2015, by proposing a referendum on Brexit the British Prime Minister David Cameron seems to have forgotten the golden rule any politician should know before initiating a referendum: make sure that he will not lose it. He naively considered that the economic argument would be strong enough to keep the UK in the EU, ignoring the dimension of the immigration issue in the minds and thinking of ordinary people.
