Manuscript received 31 May 1976, revised 3 July 1977, accepted 31 August 1978 Stable U(IV) and Th(IV) complexes with the title ligands have been synthesised from U(OAc)4 and Th(OAc)4. Magnetic susceptibilities, IR and reflectance spectra of U(IV) and IR spectra of Th(IV) complexes have been studied which indicate eight coordination for U(IV) in these chelates.
