SLOW-RELEASE FERTILIZATION REDUCES NITRATE LEACHING IN BAREROOT PRODUCTION OF PINUS STROBUS SEEDLINGS
2007
Soil science
The nitrate (NO 3 -) leaching potential from bareroot tree nurseries is great, yet no researchers have investigated the effect of slow release fertilization on NO 3 leachate concentrations. The effects of slow release fertilizer on nitrate-nitrogen (NO 3 -N) leachate concentrations, seedling morphology and nutrient content, soil nitrogen (N), and cation leachate concentrations were studied in the bareroot production of Pinus strobus (L.) (eastern white pine) seedlings in southwestern Wisconsin.
