This paper summarizes how differing research methodologies were sequenced during formative evaluation of a large-scale government Web site in order to generate consensus for site redesign and a clear typology of users. Each method was selected by an interdisciplinary research team to bring to the study a convergence of approaches across the fields of human computer interaction, information science, health communication, and social marketing.
