What is consciousness? How far is it unique to human beings? What does modern science say about it? These are some of the perennial questions that humans have been asking themselves. Yet basic questions about the precise timing, location and dynamics of the neural event(s) allowing conscious access to information are not clearly and unequivocally determined.
