ABSTRACT In this paper, we analyze the relationship between Higher Education policies in Brazil and the decreasing employability of graduates, despite a period of improvement of the economy and educational indexes. The purpose of such analysis is to reflect about social sustainability of Higher Education policies in face of this phenomenon, which puts at stake the myth of social mobility related to education, broadcast by neoliberalism under the influence of Human Capital Theory. Thus, we believe that, despite the increased of access to Higher Education, the neoliberalism, committed to market interests, has hampered that the educational policies to become socially sustainable.
