TO STUDY ON INTERCROPPING OF MUSTARD, LINSEED AND CHICKPEA WITH WHEAT IN RAISED AND FLAT BED SYSTEM UNDER INNER WHEEL PATTERN

A experiment was conducted at the Students Instructional Farm of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur (U.P.) to evaluate the suitable intercropping of Mustard, Linseed and Chickpea with Wheat in raised and flat bed system under inner wheel pattern.The experiment comprised of 10 treatments was laid out in Randomized Block Design replicated thrice treatment combination were sole crop of Wheat, Mustard, Linseed ,Chickpea, Wheat+Mustard (1:1), Wheat+Mustard (2:1),
more » ... at+Mustard (2:1), Wheat+Linseed (1:1), Wheat+Linseed (2:1), Wheat+Chickpea (1:1) and Wheat+Chickpea (2:1). The experiment was sown on sandy loam soil having low organic carbon, medium available Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potash with 7.8 pH. The variety of the main crop Wheat was Mahi (K-402), Mustard (Kranti), Linseed (Shekhar) and Chickpea (Awrodhi) were intercropped as per row proportion. The experimental crop was sown on 24 November 2015 as per treatment under Inner Wheel Pattern in Raised Bed and Flat Bed systems. The row to row spacing of main crop was 20 cm while sub-crops were sown at a row distance of 40 cm, only chickpea was sown on raised bed and remaining were sown on flat bed system. All the remaining package and practices for the cultivation of experimental crop was made as per recommendation. Result showed that tillers/m 2 at final stage were significantly higher in sole crop of wheat over all the treatments. The root length was significantly highest in sole crop over all treatments but among the intercropping treatments, Wheat +Chickpea (2:1) was found significantly more over Wheat+Mustard (1:1), Wheat+Mustard (2:1) and Wheat+Linseed (1:1) at 45 and 90 days after sowing. The ear/plant, grains /plant and length/ear of Wheat was significantly highest in sole crop over all the treatments but at par Wheat+Chickpea (1:1) and Wheat+Linseed (2:1) under inner wheel pattern in raised bed and flat bed system. Biological, Grain and Straw yield was highest in Wheat+Chickpea (2:1), while Wheat+Chickpea (1:1) maintains its 2 nd position in intercropping treatment, whereas, significantly higher in sole crop of Wheat over all the treatments in study year. The intercropping of Wheat+Chickpea in (1:1) ratio under Inner Wheel Pattern in raised and flat bed systems were found significantly superior over all treatments in respect of LER and economics as Gross return, Net return and B:C Ratio in present study.
