Map patterns produced by thrusting and subsequent superposed folding : model experiments and example from the NE Kumaun Himalayas

Multilayer modelling clay models were compressed in orthogonal directions for simultaneous early folding and thrusting and subsequent superposed folding. In all the experiments, the initial layering was horizontal in the press but the overall shortening varied during the two stages of deformation for obtaining a variation in the structural features.
