The following document presents the conceptual framework of the GEDII project. As such it reviews the literature roughly pertaining to three quite separate knowledge fields, namely Team Science (Chapter 1), Research Assessment (Chapter 2) and Gender Research (Chapter 3). Overall, we have proceeded to review first the literature on the main factors that affect team performance, followed by the different ways that research is currently assessed and evaluated.
