... erlap between these two populations and the two procedures share some common steps, a combined approach of percutaneous MVR using the MitraClip system and LAAO may be considered a suitable strategy for patients with serious contraindications to both cardiac surgery and chronic antithrombotic therapy. Here we report the case of a patient affected by severe functional mitral regurgitation, secondary to post-infarction ventricular dilation, symptomatic for heart failure despite optimal medical therapy and cardiac resynchronization, and by atrial fibrillation with a contraindication for systemic anticoagulation due to high bleeding risk. Therefore, it was decided to perform a combined transcatheter procedure of MVR and LAAO.
