In this study, vehicle tracking with dead reckoning and assisted global positioning applications were materialized for an embedded system. GSM modules and GPS modules which allow for tracking the vehicle operation were used in the system. Position information is very important for public transport system, fare collection, determination of the transport route for calculation of system cost and restoration. Disadvantages of GPS and defects caused by nature of this technology were resolved with

In the design of the developed system, Linux operating system was used. Required Linux operating system peripheral drivers were developed. To realize peripheral module tests, necessary test and user applications and user libraries were written. User applications that provide vehicle tracking were designed for the Linux operating system.
