Comments on the relativistic ejection of QSOs from galaxies

The hypothesis that some QSOs are ejected from galaxies is explored with respect to the well-known relativistic Doppler effect. It is shown that the compact QSO-like object which Arp finds silhouetted on NGC 1199 could, in principle, have a redshift dominated by a transverse velocity component. Implications of this hypothesis for other possible galaxy-QSO associations are discussed.
