Logic Agents and Conceptual Interoperability through Semantic Web Technologies

This article describes one possible option on how the flexible and open world of Semantic Web Technologies such as the Resource Description Framework, the Web Ontology Language (OWL) or other languages compatible to the Jena-Model can be integrated with logic based agents implementing the so called Situation Calculus. By integrating both systems tightly all systems' features are technically made mutually available. Amongst others these are the web-based Modularity provided by OWL as well as
more » ... larityrecognition by Alignment-tools and Mapping-tools. Especially -but not exclusively -the latter methodology can bridge differences in interpretation of distributed Ontologies and herewith lead to a higher Level of Conceptual Interoperability. The paper outlines how Semantic Web Technologies can support Decision Makers within the EBO by Description Logic and Alignment along some examples. After this, synergetic effects from the mentioned integration are mentioned. .Finally the technical integration based on Second Order Logic structures of complex Inferences represented by the Situation Calculus and Ontologies is described.
