Experimental study of neoclassical plasma flow and bootstrap current in the tokamak TEXTOR
1994
Nuclear Fusion
An experimental study of ion flow in the edge plasma of the tokamak TEXTOR has been performed. The corresponding predictions of neoclassical theory could be verified qualitatively to a large extent and quantitatively for small densities. The measurements indicate that the observed drift of the ions is due to the neoclassical toroidal plasma flow and ion bootstrap current. The energy density of the drift is significant compared with the total thermal energy density. Application of the model
